Fear of Public Speaking

I once was petrified of public speaking. Then I joined Toastmasters. A year later I was teaching business communications to large groups of new hires. Overcoming fear is like wearing a cape and tights. And this is one worth overcoming. Whether speaking to a small group of people or presenting before a large audience, expressing yourself with confidence is a must for success.

Toastmasters is a great place to start overcoming your fear of public speaking. Check out this link to learn more and find a club near you. https://www.toastmasters.org/

Stay tuned as I will be adding more information and guidance on increasing your confidence and skill when it comes to public speaking. And remember, when you overcome a fear, it’s like you put on tights and a cape – you can do anything!

Poetry

A beam of sun from the
  brightest light
at one, a part of, and yet
one apart
and I am more than this world
It sings out of key
But I'm in harmoney
It is a march
But I am a dance
It pretends to conquer
the wind, the wave, the wild
But I choose not to
And I am free to see and be
  beauty in the world

        *
Shadows and ghosts try to sway me
   away from my faith
But I stay and pray in the Word
that I've heard and embraced
for God's grace
saves me every day.

I felt like the ugly duckling
Looking for my place
I would have thought I’d be
the Swan by now
Finding my place
But I’m still looking
Perhaps that’s the way it is
Always becoming

*
Welcome, doubt
You feel fear, it’s okaay
You worry that past
negativity
will descend upon you again
It is a baseless fear
We are not living
in the past
We are here, now
and each breath is a
new beginning
Born in love and
self-compassion

Haiku

A traditional Japanese haiku is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5/7/5 syllable count, often focusing on images from nature. When I was a child my mother introduced me to Haiku. It has become a lifelong love affair.

Moving in darkness
Fear lurks on an unknown path
Yet each step brings hope

Your dragon is fear
Not to make you a victim
But move you to live

A singular tree
Standing alone tall and strong
Welcomes the forest

The past, a shadow
On the dark side of the heart
Face the sun and breathe

When he leaves for work
My prince charming gives me a
Kiss, and I awake

Music

Coming soon…

I’ve been writing songs since I was 20 years old. That’s one thing my partner Tom and have in common. We bought a 4 track and laid down many songs. They are mostly first takes, so they aren’t perfectly executed. But I think you’ll get the idea of what they’re meant to be. Please let us know how you like our music!

I hope you enjoyed my creativity and would love to hear from you.

If you find it challenging to be creative, then perhaps you would like Julia Cameron’s The Artists’ Way. She believes all people have creativity within them, and I agree. If you would like to learn more, here is the link to her page: https://juliacameronlive.com/the-artists-way/
